CBI programme successfully sealed at In-Cosmetics 2018
15 prominent natural ingredients manufacturers from Peru, Colombia and South Africa exhibited their newest product ranges at in-cosmetics global in Amsterdam this year.
With much success, CBI’s programme participants exhibited among the world’s top suppliers of personal care ingredients. The CBI stand – located at a key location at the fair - attracted many visitors and as a result fruitful business contacts were acquired. Among roughly 9000 visitors and a total attendance of about 18000 at the global trade fair, CBI’s stand proudly increased the surface of the show with about 3 percent.
“The companies, of which six have women managing directors and/or owners, cover the full range of natural ingredients: vegetable oils, essential oils and other plant extracts - that also tick the boxes of sustainability and natural, which are characteristics that are so much in demand from consumers, and therefore manufacturers want to include these in their products.” – Andrew Jones, CBI expert.
Entry in the cosmetics market is not very easy for most suppliers, this is why In-Cosmetics was a unique opportunity for the participants to proudly increase awareness of the provenance of their local products in the global market. With 9392 unique visitors at the fair, the companies managed to successfully conclude their participation as many new business contacts were acquired. All companies were very happy with the results and had positive reactions.
“In our search for a gateway to the markets outside of South Africa, we found out about CBI. I am glad about the results, because just from CBI’s help alone, I acquired 20 new clients which I wouldn’t have had without CBI’s help. Also standing here with CBI, a governmental organisation, gives us credibility which also helps boost business.” - Will Coetsee (Timola)
“We joined CBI’s programme because we wanted to increase our knowledge about vegetable oils. It was Andrew’s training that thought us a lot about European requirements and how to present ourselves. We gained a lot of knowledge and expanded to such a large product line, also standing here with CBI at the trade fair we gained fruitful business contacts.” - Riana Minnaar (Highland Essential Oils)
Export Coaching Programme
The programme, called ‘Natural Ingredients for Cosmetics’, had started in 2014 and focuses on exporters of natural ingredients for cosmetics from Peru, Colombia and South Africa. This year CBI attended In-Cosmetics for the third time since 2016 and it was the companies’ final trade fair presence in CBI’s programme. Over the past four years, the participants have been trained and coached about the European cosmetics market and attained remarkable results.
“We joined the programme because we wanted to increase awareness about Tara gum, a local specialty which we produce in a natural and organic manner - key points that are sought after in the European cosmetics market. Throughout these years, I learned a lot about the cosmetics market as well as marketing skills thanks to the programme.”- Herbert Telge Peschiera (Derbiotec)
“Through the CBI programme, we got the opportunity to expand our knowledge to the cosmetics industry and in this way expand our business. Now we not only operate in the food sector (nuts) but also in the cosmetics sector (oil). The programme really helps and it is a good opportunity because throughout these three years Andrew regularly visited us and gave us assignments and deadlines to abide by. He really put us to work for this and made us put in our own effort to work hard and also to train our staff.” – Gastón Vizcarra Kennedy (Candela Peru)
