Apparel, Home Textiles & Textiles Egypt

Now is the time to boost the Egyptian supply chain. The Egyptian textiles, home textiles and apparel sectors offer many opportunities for improved sustainability performance, export growth and job creation. The European market for sustainable products is growing fast, offering good opportunities in mid and higher-end markets.

Egypt is in a unique position as it has a long history of supplying quality products, is vertically integrated and has good opportunities for nearshoring.

This project aims to support the Egyptian textiles sector's transition to a resilient, environmentally and socially conscious sector that uses new business models and innovative production practices.

Project goals

In this project, CBI supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to improve their sustainability performance and enter the European market. CBI aims to support the transition to a higher quality, more competitive and inclusive sector with:

  • Long-term positioning;
  • Preparation for future competitiveness for the sector's SMEs;
  • More value addition (quality and sustainability) and diversification;
  • Support in the transition to a sector that is resilient and socially and environmentally conscious; and
  • New business models and innovative production practices.

This project also aims to support a selected group of frontrunners in creating iconic pilot projects demonstrating improved business models that address the critical transition trends affecting the sector, such as climate change, digitalisation and innovation.

At the same time, the project will support the development of an effective business service delivery system that can help other companies across the sector to follow the example of the frontrunners.

Together with our Egyptian partners, we aim to set up a partnership that aims to position the textiles sector on the European market enable it to meet current and future market requirements in terms of sustainability.
