Tender for consultants for CBI's Ethiopia Tourism project
CBI is looking for 3 consultants for its community-based tourism project in Ethiopia. This project will support the development and upscaling of the sustainable and community-based tourism (CBT) sector.
We are looking for the following experts:
- An expert in international community-based tourism ecosystem development;
- An Ethiopia CBT network manager;
- An expert responsible for organising local project logistics.
About the project
This project follows up on CBI's Ethiopia Tourism project, which ran from 2019 to 2024. This project showed good opportunities to further develop community tourism products in Ethiopia, especially in relation to linking these products with market demands.
Ethiopia has great potential for community tourism, but a system that helps Ethiopian stakeholders promote responsible community tourism development is also needed. The new Tourism project will focus on increasing the integration of local communities into the tourism value chain, by linking Community-Based Tourism (CBT) products with markets.
Role of the consultant
CBI is looking for 3 types of consultants.
International community-based tourism ecosystem development expert
CBI is looking for an expert who will:
- advise and motivate the various stakeholders on building a sound institutional support system for promoting and managing CBT in Ethiopia;
- align the local CBT product with EU market preferences and requirements, together with the communities and tour operators involved;
- mobilise his/her network among EU tour operators (interested in) buying CBT products from Ethiopia and the rest of the world, for promoting Ethiopian CBT in EU markets.
This role requires:
- in-depth knowledge about different CBT aspects and CBT-projects world-wide;
- in-depth knowledge of the European demand for CBT.
Ethiopia CBT network manager
CBI is looking for an expert who will:
- involve project stakeholders and mobilise them for this project;
- push sector collaboration around the theme of CBT;
- organise, coordinate and carry out project activities such as training sessions and meetings;
- collaborate closely with the other experts in the project.
This role requires:
- in-depth knowledge of the Ethiopian tourism sector;
- a large and active network among the different public and private stakeholders.
Expert responsible for organising project logistics
CBI is looking for an expert who will arrange practical logistics regarding project activities, such as:
- organising stakeholder meetings, training sessions and workshops;
- renting meeting and training venues;
- coordinating session facilities and equipment;
- arranging transportation for project activities.
