Tender for experts for CBI's AnMOOn project: Morocco olive oil and youth
CBI is looking for experts to support the olive oil sector in the Mèknes-Fès region in becoming future-proof. They will give advice on sustainability and youth inclusion.
We are looking for experts who can provide:
- Youth entrepreneurship support;
- Olive oil sector expertise, including knowledge of exports and sustainable production;
- Education and employment expertise in the agricultural sector.
About the AnMOON olive oil project
The AnMOON project aims to support the olive oil sector in Morocco's Meknès-Fèz region in becoming more inclusive and future-proof. Young entrepreneurs and employees have the power to prepare the olive sector for future opportunities and challenges.
The project aims to contribute to the following results:
- Young entrepreneurs have developed service-delivery business ideas for farmers and millers;
- A more future-proof value chain thanks to including these services;
- More and improved employment for youth active in the sector.
Market opportunities for olive oil in regional and international markets are driving this process. Access to export markets is a means to achieve a more inclusive and sustainable value chain.
Consultant roles
This tender is for 3 categories of experts.
Lot 1
Expert(s) in youth entrepreneurship
CBI is looking for 1 or a maximum of 2 experts who will:
- Explore how the Mèknes-Fès entrepreneurial ecosystem can best support young entrepreneurs, and how the project can contribute to strengthening the ecosystem;
- Forge collaboration with relevant ecosystem actors, such as incubators/accelerators, public organisations or educational institutions;
- Working with partners, provide support to young entrepreneurs who have innovative service delivery ideas;
- For start-ups: refine and scale the incubation boot camp, as piloted in earlier phases of the project;
- Showcase young entrepreneurs' business ideas at regional and national fora;
- Promote alumni networking and community of practice;
- Support existing service providers in growing and better inclusion of youth.
Lot 2
Expert(s) in olive oil production and marketing
CBI is looking for 1 or a maximum of 2 experts who will implement pathway 2, a Future-proof Value Chain. The aim of this pathway is to:
- Facilitate the uptake of the new services developed under pathway 1;
- Work with SMEs, young farmers and millers who can be considered (future) frontrunners in climate resilience, resource efficiency, youth inclusion, or market diversification;
- Design and implement a scaling strategy to ensure other SMEs are inspired to make such investments;
- Assess both export opportunities and possible negative (side) effects of promoting exports. Also, advise the CBI team on actions to mitigate these effects;
- Involve an active network of importers;
- Provide partner SMEs with business export coaching, to support diversification and access to the EU and other markets;
- Provide partner SMEs with advice and coaching on sustainable production, after performing a sustainability scan;
- Provide Human Resource Management (HRM) coaching for SMEs, enabling them to align with youth aspirations, provide career guidance, and understand the business case for fostering youth inclusion;
- Assess how the right support can become available and accessible for all SMEs in the Mèknes-Fès entrepreneurial ecosystem.
- Explore and seek partnerships with export promotion agencies and programmes, such as Morocco FoodEx, Morocco Now, Le Centre Marocain de Promotion des Exportations and the International Trade Centre (ITC).
Lot 3
Expert in education and employment
CBI is looking for 1 or a maximum of 2 experts who will:
- Contribute to making training and education more adequate for the labour market. Perform a Labour Market Assessment (LMA);
- Think of mechanisms with both youth and employers to ensure better career guidance;
- Design and pilot, an internship/traineeship model to facilitate the transition from TVET education together with the Office de la Formation Professionnelle et de la Promotion du Travail (OFPPT), other schools and universities;
- Look into solutions to reach rural youth better;
- Work with OFPPT and other partners to develop orientation services or mentors who will guide youth in their studies and career choices;
- Research the potential to include olive oil-specific education more prominently in the curricula;
- Organise youth-centric events, workshops and training sessions tailored for young people in the olive oil sector;
- Incorporate interactive activities, hands-on demonstrations, and peer-to-peer learning opportunities to foster engagement, networking, and skill development among young people;
- Guide employers in better providing decent jobs, by including professional development opportunities for youth and upward mobility;
- Work with a selected group of SMEs on reviewing and, if needed, improving their process for youth recruitment, onboarding and career guidance;
